New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case in the murder case after the alleged gang rape of a Dalit girl in Hathras. Simultaneously, the CBI has started its investigation in this case. The CBI has formed a team in this regard.

Officials said that the CBI has registered an FIR on Sunday morning under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections related to gangrape and murder. On the complaint of the victim’s brother, the case was first registered at Chandpa police station in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh.

CBI spokesperson RK Gaur said, “The complainant had alleged that on 14.09.2020, the accused attempted to strangle her sister in millet field. The case was registered by the CBI at the request of the Uttar Pradesh government.” The agency has formed a team to investigate the case.

Significantly, the 19-year-old girl died on September 29 in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. She was allegedly gangraped on September 14 by four upper caste people.
