New Delhi/Goa: An actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Haryana Sonali Phogat died of cardiac arrest in Goa, the police said on Tuesday. The 42-year-old actor who also took part in the reality TV show, Big Boss, was on a visit to Goa, with some other staff members. According to Director General Police in Goa Jaspal Singh, as Phogat was feeling uneasy on Monday, she was rushed to St Anthony Hospital where she died. There are no external injury marks on the body, he said, adding that the post-mortem report would reveal the exact cause of the death.

According to deputy superintendent of police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi, Phogat was brought dead to the hospital. She died of a cardiac arrest. The body was sent to the Goa Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem. Phogat contested an election from Adampur assembly at Hisar in Haryana but lost to the then Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi who has recently joined the BJP. Bishnoi condoled the death of Phogat. She lost her husband a few years ago, sources said.
