News Desk – Recently, a rumor spread on social media claiming that Anjali Birla, daughter of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, clear the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam without appearing for it. But is that true? Let’s know the fact!

According to the India Today Fact Check, they disproved these allegations. Anjali Birla appear in the UPSC exams of 2019 and she pass both the prelims and mains examinations. Anjali was selected through the Consolidated Reserve List, it is a part of the UPSC’s recruitment process. Her name was announced among 89 aspirants on January 4, 2021.

This list is created under rules 16(4) and 16(5) of the UPSC, which allow the commission to maintain a reserve of qualified candidates. The UPSC itself issued a clarification, that the reserve list includes candidates from both reserved and unreserved categories.

Furthermore, the rumor was previously expose by Aaj Tak and The Quint, with Anjali Birla herself explaining the circumstances of her selection.
