Incident rattles residents of Mahasamund district in Chhattisgarh.
Raipur: A drug addict has killed his parents and grandmother and burnt their bodies in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh.
The incident took place last week in Putka village under Singhoda police station.
According to reports, a man identified as Udit lodged a complaint at the Singhoda police station on May 12 that his father Prabhat Bhoi (53), mother Jharna (47) and grandmother Soluchana (75) had gone missing.
In the complaint, Udit said that they had gone to Raipur on May 8 and never returned, the police said.
During the probe, the residents of Putka village said that Udit had bought a bed, a cupboard, an air conditioner, a mobile phone and other items after his family members had gone missing.
He also asked a few villagers about procedures for getting a job on compassionate grounds. Udit did all that after his family members allegedly went missing. This raised suspicion, he said.
Udit, arrested on Wednesday, told the police that he was a drug addict and committed the crime, since he was not given money for buying drug.
Udit’s younger brother, a student of in college in Raipur, reached Putka and found the ashes and blood stains in different parts of the house. He then called the police.
According to the police, Udit had an altercation with his father over money on May 7, and, in the early hours of May 8, he hit his parents and grandmother with a hockey stick and when they died, he burnt their bodies
