With pollution levels in the national capital rising once more, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that the ‘Red Light On, Gaadi Off’ campaign encouraged people to turn off their engines at signals last will be reinstated on October 18 this year. While the campaign would officially commence on October 18, the CM also stated that individuals should begin turning off their engines at the lights as soon as possible.

Delhi’s pollution has risen in the last three to four days, according to Kejriwal. However, the levels rise at this time of year. Farmers in neighboring states have been compelled to burn stubble because their governments have refused to assist them. “Stubble burning has started, and pollution in Delhi has grown,” he added, citing NASA satellite data.
PM10 and PM2.5 levels in Delhi have decreased by 25% in the last seven to eight years, according to Kejriwal, who added, “We need to try to reduce our own pollution further to avoid pollution from outside from hurting our health.” The Chief Minister made public pleas for people to strive to minimize pollution. Experts have also stated that this approach will assist in reducing pollution while also saving gasoline.

To combat pollution during the winter season, the government has unveiled a 10-point Winter Action Plan. Measures to reduce dust pollution and avoid stubble burning are included in the strategy.
