Arvind Kejriwal, Others Acquitted by Delhi Court

A Delhi court freed Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, and nine other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in the case of assault on former Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash in 2018. On the other hand, the court charged AAP MLAs Prakash Jarwal and Amanatullah Khan with violating sections 186 and 353 and other pertinent provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Metropolitan Magistrate Sachin Gupta issued the order.

Today’s news conference, Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia mentioned the court decision, describing the day as one of “justice and truth.” “The court ruled that all of the claims in the case were false and without merit,” Sisodia told reporters. “Chief Minister was innocent and thus the court’s verdict proved the same.”

Sisodia maintained that the case was nothing more than a ‘plot’ to bring Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal down. He stated, “We have been claiming the charges were untrue.” “It was a plot to assassinate the chief minister.” A first information report (FIR) was filed against Kejriwal, Sisodia, and 11 other AAP MLAs after Anshu Prakash, then the chief secretary of Delhi, said he was attacked during a meeting at the chief minister’s house on February 19, 2018.

Prakash said that he was summoned to a midnight meeting to discuss the party’s ads for the government’s third anniversary in Delhi and that he was maltreated and beaten during the session. The chief minister, deputy chief minister, and other AAP MLAs have all denied any culpability in the event. Saurabh Bhardwaj, the party’s primary spokesperson, even accused Anshu Prakash of fabricating false charges at the Union government’s request.
