New Delhi: The Supreme Court has turned down Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Mohammad Arif alias Ashfaq’s review plea against death penalty. Ashfaq was involved in the 2000 Red Fort attack in which three persons, including three army jawans, were killed.
Arif is one of the terrorists, who had entered the Red Fort on December 22, 2000 and rained fire from their automatic weapons, which led to the death of three persons.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and Justice Bela M Trivedi said that it had accepted the prayers that electronic records be considered.
The apex court said, “We have accepted the prayers that electronic records must be placed in consideration. His guilt is proved. We affirm the view taken by this court and reject the review petition.”
