The police arrested the boy and said that he was addicted to crime-related TV serials and online crime and investigation game. After killing the family members, he hid the bodies in a pit near his house.
Agartala (Tripura): A 15-year-old polished off four of his family members with an axe in Dhalai district of Tripura, the police said on Sunday. The boy fell into the police dragnet within a few hours after committing the crime.
The boy murdered his 70-year-old grandfather, 32-year-old mother, 42-year-old aunt and 10-year-old sister. As he was committing the crime, he was playing loud music to drown the yells of the victims, the police said, adding that after murdering them, he hid the bodies in a pit near his residence.
According to assistant inspector general of police Jyotishman Das Chowdhury, the boy ran away after committing the murders. The police have, however, caught him, Das Chowdhury said, adding that the boy was hooked to television serials, especially the ones that delineate crimes and online games. Cases have been registered against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the official said.
