Jaipur: Ten million school children in Rajasthan set a world record by singing patriotic songs for 25 minutes as part of the 75th year of independence, sources said on Friday and figured in the World Book of Records. As many as 26, 000 children took part in the main event held at Sawai Man Singh Stadium. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot addressed the students. Similarly, the event, singing patriot songs, was held in every district headquarters across the state.

Students from 67,000 government schools and 50,000 private institutions sang six songs together for 25 minutes. They songs the children sang included Vande Magaram, Saare Jahan Se Achchha Hindustan Hamaara, Aao Bachchon Tumhen Dikhaayen Jhankee Hindustan Kee, Jhanda Ooncha Rahen Hamaara and Hum Honge Kamayab Ek Din. Gehlot said that the children’s efforts got a place in the World Book of Records and that India won freedom fighting the British under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel and Maulana Azad.
