Gurgaon: A heart-wrenching incident of Pitbull attacking and injuring a 36-year-old woman occurred at Civil Lines in Haryana’s Gurgaon district, the police said on Friday. This was the third incident of a Pitbull attack in the past one month. Earlier, a Pitbull killed a retired teacher Sushila Tripathi in Lucknow and, a few days ago, another Pitbull attacked and injured a 16-year-old boy in Meerut.

The woman, Munni, a domestic hand and a native of West Bengal, was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition. On Thursday, she went to a house where she worked. Her sister, Beauty, lodged a complaint at the police station, alleging that the owner of the dog Vinit Chikara let it loose on Munni. According to reports, the dog caught hold of Munni’s neck and bit her all across her body. Beauty further said that she was behind Munni, but escaped unhurt, and the owners of the dog were watching everything without trying to rescue the victim. The police started an investigation into the case and came to know that Vinit Chikara and Neetu, residents of Civil Lines, own the dog. The police, however, did not arrest anyone in connection with the incident.

After the Lucknow incident, the civic bodies have appealed to people not to keep a Pitbull which even attacks its owners. It was Sushila Tripathi who used to feed the dog, but fell its prey. Such dogs are meant for hunting. In Meerut, a screw-driver was used to open the teeth of the Pitbull that attacked the 16-year-old boy.
