This Diwali let’s take charity sincerely

Diwali is here, wish you all a very Happy and joyful Diwali celebration. Diwali, the festival of lights is usually considered to be a festival that marks the victory of good over evil as Lord Rama returns to Ayodhya from his war with Ravana who had kidnapped his wife Sita. Lord Rama sets an example to the world that despite all challenges in life when we are more tolerant and patient, happiness follows and things settle down in a natural way.

In the last two years, we have seen deaths and bad news more than ever. It has been a roller-coaster ride of a journey for people who belonged to poor and marginalized classes of society. People are literally suffering to even pay their bills and thus, have shifted to smaller homes and lifestyles with a lowered cost of living. Some people have called off their marriages while some have decided to leave their studies midway.

In some or the other way, not all are the same. Even a poor household has a difference from other households of the poor background in the same locality. Diwali is usually a large affair for people every year to get their homes refurbished, get new stuff at home, do a lot of shopping, organize Diwali parties. This year, for a change, many have decided to keep it a low-key affair. So, whatever extra expenses that you would have surely incurred can be converted as a donation fund to someone who is in need.

You need not go out of the way to do charity. Just check out your home and if you have used things that you no longer need, you can keep them to give to your sweeper. You can give a portion of your income to a charity trust that looks after the disabled, poor, and needy people’s requirements. It is a small kind act but if you do it sincerely, it will do a lot of things for others.
