Quotes of Lord Krishna from the Bhagavad Gita and their Meanings

LifestyleQuotes of Lord Krishna from the Bhagavad Gita and their Meanings

Date:

If you have read or seen the ancient story Mahabharata, you would know how difficult it was for Arjuna to fight with his own family members, teachers, and brothers to get justice for his wife’s insults. However, he had Lord Krishna as his charioteer and friend who would give him the confidence to go ahead with the Kurukshetra war no matter what. As we celebrate Krishna Janmashtami all over the country, we mention here some of the interesting quotes of Lord Krishna from the Bhagavad Gita with their explanations.

Draupadi of Peter Brook’s ‘Mahabharata’ recalls her days with the Master

1) You have the right to work but never to the fruit of work:

Many times we get so engrossed in work either in personal or professional lives or both that we think that we have all the rights for the fruits of our actions as well. I have heard so many men and women out there who keep telling me that they have toiled for the house and they have the rights over the property, bank balance, etc. because they deserve to lead lavish or better lifestyles. The root cause of this thought process is because they are too attached to the fruits of their actions that they don’t get peace even after they get hold of materialistic gains. So, if you really want to lead a peaceful life, just work and leave it up to the NATURE or God to give you fruits based on your actions rather than trying to fight for your rights.

2) Whatever happened, happened for the good. Whatever is happening, is happening for the good. Whatever will happen, will also happen for the good.

I know it is really difficult for a common man to not grieve over the losses that he has to suffer every time. But the fact of life is that everything is changing and everyone is temporary in the world. So, if you had a bad breakup, don’t feel that you cannot live without your ex or that your life has come to an end. Probably after many years, you would have realized that your life partner could have been much better than your ex and that’s the reason some situations occurred in your life to separate you both. So, just trust the process or journey and accept the fact whatever is happening in your life is for the ultimate Good only.

3) Lust, anger, and greed are the three gates to self-destructive hell.

Who better example than the life of Duryodhana for understanding this quote? Duryodhana had it all, a blind father who would trust him no matter what, 100 brothers who would obey his commands without a single question, a loving mother who would do any tapasya for him, a very intelligent uncle who could have used his brains to create goodness for the world. But this guy lost it all in the story of Mahabharata only because of his lust for Draupadi, anger for his cousin brothers’ talents, and greed to rule the kingdom all alone without giving anyone their share of rights or property. He died a bad death with people never wanting to have a son or brother like Duryodhana for thousands of years.
