Kerala gets an award from the United Nations

For its amazing contribution to curb the non-communicable diseases and setting sustainable development goals, the United Nations has honoured the state of Kerala.

World Health Organization director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus declared the UN Interagency Task Force (UNIATF) award this year on prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.

The award takes into account of the work in the prevention and control of NCDs, mental health and the wider NCD-related sustainable development goals (SDGs) done in 2019.

Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja was elated for getting recognized for the tireless service of the state in the health sector.

She also appreciated the health workers of the state for their contribution to receive this honour.

The state government mentioned how the award was for being able to launch a lifestyle disease control mechanism in Kerala. Also, the treatment and free services were received many people in the state.
