However, there are some spiritual gurus who have their own importance in each community and who inspire people to lead better lives. Today we are going to talk about Mahaperiyava or the Sage of Kanchi Jagadguru Shri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Mahaswamigal (20 May 1894 – 8 January 1994). Mahaperiyava means the great elder. He was the 68th Jagadguru Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. His teachings have been recorded in a Tamil book with the name Deivathin Kural, which means Voice of God.

1) Obstacles, inevitable to any work or enterprise, must not cause you any mental strain. You must not feel any duty to be a burden and must develop the attitude that everything happens according to the will of the Lord.
Interpretation: It means any duty or responsibility that comes our way shouldn’t be considered as an obstacle or challenge. It should not make you feel stressed and if you develop an attitude that each moment of your life has been designed by God, then you will feel blessed.

2) Heart burning caused by another man’s prosperity or status is jealousy. We ought to have love and compassion for all and ought to be patient and forgiving even towards those who do us wrong.
Interpretation: People have jealous feelings when they see others getting more success than them. However, this negative feeling is not good for our souls. We need to develop the skills of patience, forgiveness and give love and compassion to one and all.
3) Parameswara and Sriman Narayana are one and the same in reality. They are not two. This is the conclusive view of all the ‘shastras.’ Names differ, forms are different, occupations vary, but the reality which is within Them is one and the same.
Interpretation: There are various forms of God but all are one and the same as they all are meant to bless us to do good when we are here in this world.
