The Kamakshi Amman Temple in Kanchi is an ancient Hindu temple that has been created for Goddess Kamakshi who is the ultimate Goddess Lalita Maha Tripura sundari. It is situated in the beautiful city of Kanchipuram, which is near Chennai in India. If you visit the state of Tamil Nadu, you should never miss out to visit these important temples such as Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, Akilandeswari temple in Thiruvanaikaval, Kamakshi Amman temple in Kanchi. It is believed that the Kanchi Kamakshi Amman temple was built by the Pallava kings.

Kamakshi Amman’s shrine is the only Shakti shrine in all the Shiva temples in Kanchipuram which do not have different shrines for Amman. Therefore, people worship Kamakshi Amman as Parabrahma Swaroopini. There is also a famous tale that states that Lalitha Devi lives in Kamakoti Peetha in Kanchi.

The Kamakshi Amman temple takes an area of 5 acres. It houses the image of Goddess Kamakshi in a seated position and is flanked by the Gods Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. Around the sanctum also has small shrines of Bangaru Kamakshi, Adi Shankara, and Maha Saraswathi. Other temples that one can visit while they go to take blessings from Kamakshi Amman temple in Kanchipuram are Sri Ekambaranthar Temple, Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple, Sri Ulagalanda Perumal Temple, Sri Kumarakottam Temple, Sri Kailasanathar Temple, Sri Kachapeswarar Temple.
