Wellington: Due to rain, the final session could not be played between India and New Zealand on the first day of the first cricket test. When the first day’s stumps, India had scored 122 runs for five wickets.

The rain started only after T-break. Due to this, the game could not be played in the last session and the umpires announced to end the game after inspecting the pitch. Ajinkya Rahane was playing 38 and Rishabh Pant was scoring 10 runs when the first day’s game was declared to end.

Kyle Jamieson has taken three wickets for 38 runs for New Zealand. New Zealand captain Ken Williamson won the toss and invited India to bat first at the Basin Reserves ground. This decision was excellent and in the first session, the team lost the matches of Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara and Captain Virat Kohli.

Indian batsmen failed miserably on a helpful cricket for fast bowlers. On the other hand, the New Zealand bowlers also disciplined in the second session after the first session, two wickets of India. Mayank Agarwal scored 34 off 84 balls which was dismissed after lunch in an attempt to play a pull shot to Trent Boult, Hanuma Vihari (7) became Jamison’s third victim.

India’s innings started in the morning by the pair of Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw. Shaw hit the bolt with two fours on the square cut but he had to bear the brunt of the weak technique. He was bowled by a Saudi ball.

Pujara, regarded as Team India’s most trusted batsman in the Test cricket, faced a lot of restraint, bowling out of the off stump, but the six-foot, six-inch tall Jamison, who came as a second change, also returned him to the pavilion. A ball bouncing from his bounce hit Pujara’s bat and went to wicketkeeper BJ Watling. Similarly, he gave India the biggest blow by dismissing Kohli. Kohli was caught by Ross Taylor on the first slip.

On the second day of the match, the Indian team will try to reach a score of at least 300 runs, so the eyes of the fans of Team India will be especially focused on vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane.
