Poonam Yadav took 4 wickets for 19 runs
Sydney: After a brilliant innings by Deepti Sharma (49 not out), Poonam Yadav (4 wickets) bowled the fatal bowling, the Indian team defeated Australia by 17 runs in the first match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup played in Sydney. With this win, the Indian team has reached number one in the points table.
After losing the toss and batting first, the Indian team scored 132 runs after losing four wickets in the prescribed 20 overs. Chasing a target of 133 runs, the Australian women’s team were all out for 115 runs in 19.5 overs.

Poonam Yadav bowled brilliantly for India and took four wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Apart from this, Shikha Pandey got three successes, while Rajeshwari Gaikwad got one wicket.
Earlier, after the brilliant start of Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma’s battling innings, the Indian team scored 132 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Sixteen-year-old Shefali Verma had led India to 41 runs without losing wickets for four overs. He smashed 29 off 15 balls, hitting five fours and a six, but his dismissal worsened after his dismissal and was disappointed by the other batsmen.
