Bhopal: Just two days before the commencement of the winter session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the State Council of Ministers here today approved the important Madhya Pradesh Dharma Swatantrya Bill 2020 to prevent love and conversion.
State Home Minister Narottam Mishra told the media after a meeting of the Council of Ministers that strict provisions have been made in this bill to stop conversion. It has made very strict provisions for punishment and punishment and many provisions have been made in this country only in this state.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said, “Under the new MP Freedom of Religion Bill 2020, forced conversion of a minor, woman or a person from Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe, would draw a minimum jail term of 2-10 years with a minimum penalty of Rs 50,000.”
Mishra further said, “Under new Bill, forcing religious conversion on someone will attract 1-5 years of imprisonment and a minimum Rs 25,000 fine.”
Narottam Mishra said that when this bill takes the form of law, then the Freedom of Religion Act of 1968 will end. He said that the bill would be introduced in the winter session of the assembly starting on Monday.
He said that after the enactment of the Bill, no person will be able to convert or attempt to convert another in the name of marriage, intimidation, force, side effect, marriage or in any other fraudulent manner directly or otherwise. No person will be able to inspire or conspiracy to convert.
