NewDelhi: PM Modi is all set to launch the e-RUPI digital payment solution on August 2, via video conferencing. After the grand success of the JAM trio (Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile), which the Centre uses to push around 300 government schemes to transfer direct benefit schemes to end, users which have clocked about 773 crore transactions in the financial year 20-21.
This new digital payment is a cashless and contactless instrument known as e-RUPI is a QR code or SMS string-based e-Voucher, which will be delivered to the mobile of the beneficiaries for the transaction.
The Modi government is aiming to take forward the concept of electronic vouchers ahead with a vision of good governance.
According to the PMO release “The unique system will provide seamless payment mechanism through which one can redeem the voucher without a card, digital payments app or internet banking access, at the service provider,”.

A few days back newly appointed IT Minister, Ashwini Viashnaw, has too highlighted in his address to the media, that the Centre is focussing to grow and develop domestic and local payment systems with data centers and monitoring in India along with easy accessibility
He emphasized the need for digital payment and solutions along with the fact India moved ahead in the turbulent time of the Covid pandemic through JAM trinity; clubbed with increased internet penetration, digital payments, e-marketplace, and biometric verification. Many such direct benefit schemes have brought remarkable changes into the people’s lives and also helped them bring in the umbrella of inclusive development by reaching the remotest area of the country.
