Lucknow – In an attempt to find a foothold on the political turf of the most populous state the chief of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi met Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party(PSP) chief Shivpal Singh Yadav on Tuesday in the state capital.
In a customary fashion the AIMIM chief Owaisi termed the meeting a coutsey call though it is no secret that both he and Yadav are desperately looking to put up some formidable challenge before the established political players in the electoral fray.
Samajwadi Party and UP: Will they have a comeback?
It may be recalled that a few months back AIMIM and Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party led by Om Prakash Rajbhar have come together as the constituents of the proposed Bhagidari Morcha an alliance for the assembly election floated by Rajbhar who was a cabinet minister in Yogi Government but sacked after Lok Sabha for his connstant criticism of the very government he was part and parcel of in the capacity of an ally of BJP.
However before the duo of Rajbhar and Owaisi could have gained momentum the meeting of Rajbhar with state BJP chief Swatantra Deo Singh raised eyebrows from AIMIM camp. Though Rajbhar tried hard to play down the meeting with state BJP president, the untrust has come to stay atleast for the time being. The much publicised joined meetings of Rajbhar-Owaisi could materialise afterwards.

On the other hand PSP chief Shivpal Singh Yadav is also looking for some to tieup with as his efforts to bridge the gap with his erstwhile Samajwadi Party led by his nephew and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav bore no fruits.

Though nothing has been formally stated by either side regarding any future tie up, the possibility for the same can not be ruled out as the both need each other for their political survival in wake of ensuing assembly election. The outcome of Shivpal-Owaisi meeting is keenly awaited andwill be known soon.
