New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will apply to private un-aided minority vocational colleges for taking admission in MBBS, BDS and post graduate courses. That is, NEET examination will be necessary for admission in private and minority medical colleges also. Recognition of colleges that do not accept NEET can be canceled.
A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra said that the introduction of NEET in minority unaided institutions does not violate the fundamental rights of the minority community, which empowers the establishment and management of educational institutions. The court said that the motive of NEET is to end the practice of malpractices in order to maintain the standard of education and mismanagement under the guise of the special management right.
NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) was introduced by the Central Government for admission in MBBS, BDS, MS and MD in all medical colleges of the country. The aim was to enroll in all the colleges under a single examination, students do not have to take separate exams for every college and simultaneously the corruption in private medical colleges and the arbitrariness of private institutions should be eliminated.
