Khattar raises the issue of SYL canal to divide farmers

Chandigarh: With the intention of dividing the farmers of Punjab and Haryana sitting on the Indus border, seeking to repeal the new agricultural laws of the Center, efforts have now started to make the issue of Sutlej Yamuna Zod (SYL) canal. In this connection, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also organized a rally in Narnaul city of South Haryana.

At the rally, Khattar told the farmers of the agitating Haryana that we should also talk to the farmers of Punjab about their right to water. There has been a dispute for many decades between Punjab and Haryana over the construction of SYL canal and sharing of water.

The Supreme Court has already given decision in favor of Haryana for canal construction. Punjab says that it does not have surplus water to give to any other state. The Khattar government feels that water is such an issue, which can increase the distance between the farmers of the two states who have united on the agricultural laws. This is the reason why the BJP has tried to re-warm the matter once again by holding a water rights rally in Narnaul.
