Government ready to talk to protesters of Shaheen Bagh

New Delhi: The Union government is ready to talk to people demonstrating in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has tweeted on Saturday and hinted at the fact.

Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “The government is ready to talk to the protestors, they are willing to dispel all their doubts on the CAA but they have to create a systematic atmosphere for it. Earlier on Friday, the Election Commission team visited Shaheen Bagh. In the meantime, the team tried to find out whether elections could be held in a peaceful and fair manner on February 8.

Talking to ANI, Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said that he had come to shaheen bagh to take stock of the pre-poll preparations. He said that there are 5 polling booths in the area where there will be no problem in commuting and going to the voters. Talking to media, he appealed to the local people to vote. Since December 15, there has been a continuous demonstration against the Citizenship Amendment Act. In view of the apprehension of tension, the Election Commission wanted to know whether elections could be held here in this situation.
