Lahaur: The Pakistani government has declared former PM Nawaz Sharif a fugitive for treatment in London and has approached the British government for his extradition.
Shahzad Akbar, the prime minister’s adviser on accountability and internal affairs, said Nawaz Sharif’s four-week bail based on his treatment expired in December last year.
According to media reports, quoting Shahzad Akbar on Saturday, the government considered him a fugitive and had earlier sent a request to the British government for his extradition.
Nawaz Sharif, 70, a three-time prime minister, was convicted by a court in a corruption case and a Lahore court last month indicated he was unable to return to the country because his doctor had banned him from leaving due to the Korona epidemic.
Shahzad Akbar said that the government of Pakistan would request for further extradition of Sharif and was also seeking recognition of Shahbaz Sharif’s guarantee. His statement came after a new picture surfaced on social media. In which Nawaz Sharif is seen walking the streets of London with his son Hassan Nawaz.
