Muzaffarnagar: A huge crowd of farmers gathered in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh on behalf of Naresh Tikait, leader of the Bhartiya Kisan Union,. The mahapanchayat took place about 150 km from the Ghazipur border adjoining Delhi where Naresh Tikait’s brother Rakesh Tikait is leading the farmers’ protest against agricultural laws. He announced that he would not leave the protest site until the final decision on agricultural laws was made.

A senior UP police officer Prashant Kumar said that the UP police had no intention of evacuating the Ghazipur area to the protesters. He said, ‘On Wednesday night, the police did not go to evacuate the area but to ensure that anti-social elements do not intrude into the demonstration, but some people distorted the development. ‘
