New Delhi: The farmers’ movement has completed 24 days, after burning copies of all three agricultural laws from the farmers on the occasion of Holika Dahan on Sunday, farmers performing on the borders of Delhi also celebrated Holi today.
On Ghazipur border farmers were seen celebrating the festival with much fervour as they sang and danced to the beat of dhol along with each other on Monday morning. The protesting farmers celebrated Holi at the borders and maintained that their agitation will continue till the farm laws are repealed and a separate law on minimum support price is enacted.
Earlier on Sunday, the farmers at the borders burnt copies of the Centre’s new farm laws they have been protesting against during Holika Dahan’, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha said.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), a joint front of farmer unions, also said that it will observe “FCI Bachao Diwas” on April 5, adding that offices of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) will be gheraoed from 11 am to 5 pm across the country.
According to the report, to overcome the power shortage in the operational kitchen at the Ghazipur border protest site, the protesters installed a 5KW solar panel on Sunday. The protesters say that the solar panel will help them to run fridges, bread making machines and fans inside the kitchen. He said that this decision was taken after failing to get any kind of help from the local administration.
The solar panel was inaugurated by farmer leader Rakesh Tikait. He said, “We have installed it under our house, our electricity” scheme. In future, we will install more solar panels at the Ghazipur protest site to meet the demand of electricity. Tikait said, “It will be the biggest mistake of this government not to withdraw the agricultural laws.”
