New Delhi: A military plane crashed in Philippines. At least 85 people were on board. The army chief of the Philippines said that the plane crashed on the way. The accident happened in the southern Philippines. At present the rescue operation is going on.
Army Chief General Sirilito Sobejana said 40 people had so far been rescued from the burning wreckage of a C-130, which crashed while trying to land on Jolo Island in Sulu province. However, he did not immediately say how many people were on board the plane that crashed in Sulu province and the number of casualties.

Sobejana said the plane was carrying soldiers from southern Cagayan de Oro city. But the plane missed the runway and crashed. Government forces in the Muslim-majority province of Sulu have been battling Abu Sayyaf’s extremists for decades.
