Bollywood celebrities come together to raise funds for India’s coronavirus frontliners

Bollywood megastars Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar Alia Bhatt, Tiger Shroff, Farhan Akhtar and many top professionals from the entertainment industry collaborated with social media giant Facebook for a fundraiser concert called ‘I For India’.

The virtual concert was held on 3 May 2020, Sunday to raise funds for India’s frontline workers who are putting their efforts in controlling and defeating the coronavirus pandemic.

Facebook also collaborated with some biggest stars of the Hollywood industry such as Mick Jagger, Will Smith and Sophie Turner to make them a part of the unique initiative.

The digital concert started with an introduction by filmmakers Karan Johar and Zoya Akhtar, followed by Akshay Kumar’s poem recitation ‘Tumse Ho Nahi Payega’, written by lyricist Manoj Muntashir.

Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao shared the importance of supporting the poor and needy people in the current challenging times. Encouraging the common public to donate for the frontline workers, Aamir and his wife gave hope by singing old classics such as Aa Chalke Tujhe Main Leke Chalu and Jeena Isika Naam Hai.

Madhuri Dixit gave a beautiful rendition of Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Perfect’ with the support of her son playing the piano while Alia Bhatt and her sister Shaheen, composer Ankur Tewari sang songs such as Ek Kudi and Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi.

Shah Rukh Khan along with his son AbRam made some amazing dance moves on song by rapper Badshah titled ‘Sab Sahi Ho Jayega’ written by lyricist Sainee Rai. The song gave a hope to people that the world will be sooner or later coronavirus free.

The concert that lasted for over 4 hours raised over Rs. 3 crore, which will go to the GiveIndia’s India COVID Response Fund.

By the end of the 4 hour 20 minute-long concert, over Rs 3 crore were raised.
