West Bengal in top position for dropout rate decline in schoolchildren

A survey was conducted at national level which revealed that West Bengal ranks first in the reduction of dropout rate among school children during the period 2018-2020.

The details of the survey was announced by the current ruling Trinamool Congress.

As per the Annual State of Education Report (ASER) 2020, the school dropout rate in the state of West Bengal has become 1.5% from the earlier 3.3%.

Also, the survey highlights how the state tops in India for providing text book to the students 99.7 per cent coverage.

Whereas, larger states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra are at 79.6 per cent, 60.4 per cent, 95 per cent, 34.6 per cent and 80.8 per cent respectively.

The report also gives due recognition to the efforts of the education department of West Bengal to ensure knowledge-sharing reached out to the school children during coronavirus pandemic through online and other electronic modes.

The report has been an initiative by the Pratham Education Foundation, one of the largest NGOs in the country which aims to provide quality education to the poor kids.
