How Freelancers can avoid delivering delayed work

EducationHow Freelancers can avoid delivering delayed work

Date:

Delays in work upset many, not just the person who is expecting the work to be delivered but also the person who is delivering the work. Positive vibes reduce when there is delayed work from the client or freelancer‘s side always. If you have been accused of delivering delayed work always, here are some ways how you can turn the tables and work like a pro:

When old ideas don’t get recognized in the workplace

1) Undercommitment is better than overcommitment:

If you have been overcommitting to your client or employer that you will be working on XYZ project by a particular deadline and the result has always been less or unfulfilled, then you are doing something wrong with your career. You need to set a work culture wherein you don’t feel exhausted with your work. If your work demands you to travel then that is something extra that you need to take care of. But if you are someone who is working remotely and are committing to deliver an amount of work by a certain date, then make sure your commitment is within your limits. Pushing your boundaries always is not good for your mental health. So, it is better to work slowly than rush things ahead.

Salaried employee or Freelancer: Which career suits you the best?

2) It is okay to err but not okay to not apologize:

When you apologize for your mistakes, you don’t become less but you take away the burden from your heart of harming someone. If your client has given specific instructions for your work and you have completely forgotten that part and delivered the work on time, it is okay to accept the mistakes and rework. Freelancers generally judge clients based on their payment but you don’t have to be that kind of a money-minded one. You can be generous and kind when it comes to working as a freelancer. Because you are building goodwill when you work for free on some articles or designs and get a recommendation for another project.

3) Have a clear conscience and show your work ethic:

Copy-pasting someone else’s work just because the client wants the delivery of the work to be done faster or quicker is not a good idea. Even if the client has no tools to spot your plagiarism or you have copied someone’s work without giving them the due credit, there will be one fine day when you will lose everything. So, it is always better to follow a work ethic wherein you create something original and sell it based on your abilities. Do not get influenced by quick results or fast money because anything that is made quickly without real hard work, never lasts long. So, be ethical even if your client doesn’t want you to be so. You have a long way to go as a freelancer, think about it and keep working.

If you are all alone and it is just getting difficult to manage the workload, you can hire an intern (paid or unpaid based on your project) and share the work to avoid late delivery of work. It is always good to value the time of self and others because at the end of the day, TIME = MONEY.
