Telangana becomes fifth state to extends lockdown

New Delhi: To prevent the spread of corona virus infection, the Telangana government has decided to extend the lockdown in the state till 30 April. Earlier, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Punjab and Odisha have announced to extend the lockdown period till April 30.

There have been 503 cases of corona virus in Telangana. There are 393 active cases undergoing treatment, while 96 people have been cured and discharged from the hospital. So far 14 people have died due to corona virus in the state.

In view of the ever increasing outbreak of Corona virus, the government in Telangana has also made it mandatory for people to wear masks in public places. Telangana’s health department issued an advisory saying that people living in the same place should also wear masks during conversation among themselves. In the advisory issued earlier, only those people were advised to wear masks, who have cough, cold and other related problems.

At the same time, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao suggested to pursue a nationwide lockdown for two weeks to control covid-19. The Chief Minister said that the lockdown has helped a lot in preventing the corona virus. So there is no other way than to extend the lockdown to the next two weeks. However, KCR said that the lockdown food processing industry should go without any hurdle, so that farmers do not have to face loss and supply of essential commodities will also continue. Steps should be taken to run rice mills, oil mills and other agro-based industries.
