Noida police penalises those not having Aarogya Setu app

People living in Noida and Greater Noida have to compulsorily have the Aarogya Setu app on their mobiles. In case, the app is not installed on residents and non-residents, then Gautam Budh Nagar Police will charge a punishable offence as per a recent order circulated and in force.

Section 188 of the IPC will be charged on all those having smartphones but not download the app. Then, a judicial magistrate will decide if the person not having the Aarogya Setu app on their smartphone will be tried, fined or let go with a warning, said police officials. As per the section 188, a fine of Rs. 1,000 or a jail upto six months can also be called for.

The move by Gautam Budh Nagar Police is to ensure that people take the order seriously, otherwise strict action will be taken against them. It is for the safety and protection of people all over the areas.

Aarogya Setu app is a mobile application run by the government of India to ensure that people of the country get essential health services during the coronavirus lockdown. As COVID-19 cases are increasing day by day, the app will help to understand the users about the risks, best practices to be followed to curb the disease.
