Chennai: Amid concerns of a new strain of coronavirus spreading through UK, a man who reached Chennai last night from London via Delhi tested positive for coronavirus. He was admitted to King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research in Chennai.

Following this, those who came here from London in the last 10 days would be tracked and tested, said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan. The list of such passengers are being collected from Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Tiruchy airports.

Though flights from UK have been suspended, those who came to India on other flights and travelling to the State by road are also being monitored. For this, surveillance has been enhanced, especially at Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border.

On Tuesday, 8 people who reached here today morning from London via Dubai were tested and sent to 14-day quarantine at a star hotel in city.
