New Delhi: Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Sunday said that the Covid-19 vaccine may be available by early next year and the government is considering its emergency approval for high-risk areas. He also said that he would take the first dose himself if there was any concern about the safety of the vaccine.

According to the Health Ministry statement, Harsh Vardhan said that no date has been set for the release of the vaccine, but it may be ready by the first quarter of 2021 and will be available first to the most needy, and not on the basis of people’s paying capacity But it will be given to them.

Harsh Vardhan said that the government is taking complete precautions in testing vaccines on humans and the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19, under the chairmanship of Dr. VK Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, is preparing a detailed strategy for this.
