Many people think that they are trapped in unwanted relationships due to guilt, fear of getting exposed, low self-confidence, attachment issues, and trauma. For example, a son felt trapped by his dominating parents’ unwanted wishes that he should get remarried because the love of his life is not as per his parents’ expectations. He was afraid that he will be cursed by his parents for not having a good future and thus, gave up on his love life to fulfill his obligations.

When your boss micromanages your work

There is no right or wrong way in doing everything in life and you come to a realization when you get exposed to different situations in your life. But if your life is full of mistakes, errors, guilt, and fear then you will find yourself attached to toxic relationships every now and then. And that situation when you feel that you cannot escape and have to sacrifice all your wants and wishes is called being trapped.

Sometimes people having pleasing personality disorder may also feel trapped in their minds with someone or something. For example, a person who was overthinking a lot about why his spiritual journey got canceled every time he booked the tickets to visit his Kuldev thought that Goddess doesn’t want to meet him. His ruminating thoughts made him sound impractical and also lack the clarity that the situations were to be blamed for and not himself. However, his thoughts trapped him to think in an extremely negative manner, thus bringing more unpleasant situations in his life.

In order to avoid feeling trapped emotionally or physically, one needs to practice detachment on a constant basis. For example, if you feel trapped by your boss in doing something that is against your work ethic, you need to show your confident self by explaining why you wouldn’t sign up for the wrong work. You also need to have a backup plan if your honesty and moral values work against you at the workplace. Searching for an alternate source of income in case the present one stops due to office politics is one of the best ways you can secure yourself while you also detach yourself from the traps set at the workplace.

Toxic relationships are unhealthy for the mind and body. So, whenever you feel your friend or loved one is trapping you to get something or do something for them that is against your values then speak up and detach from the conversations with them for a while till they change their course of action.
