NationalCBI challenges Tejashwi Yadav’s bail in IRCTC case

Date:

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), challenging a special court’s order granting bail to Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, is all set to warm up Bihar politics again. The Central probe agency on Saturday challenged the bail granted to Tejashwi Yadav in connection with the alleged scam in Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Special judge of the Rouse Avenue Court Geetanjali Goel issued a notice to Yadav, seeking his response in the matter.

Both Tejashwi and his mother were granted bail in 2018 in connection with the case. The case pertains to 2006 when the father of Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav, was the railway minister in the United Progressive Alliance Government. There were allegations of corruption in ITRC hostels’ maintenance contract. The probe agency claimed that there was evidence against the Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav and others in the case. The CBI sleuths raided the official and the residential premises of RJD leaders in Patna, Katihar, Madhubani, Vaishali and Sitamarhi districts in Bihar on August 24 this year.
