Famous former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is all set to open a restaurant in the Netherlands. Called “Raina Indian Restaurant”, it will get the best of Indian cuisine to Amsterdam, shared Raina in a social media post while also announcing his new business.

Raina wrote along with sharing some pictures on Instagram Story, “I am absolutely ecstatic to introduce Raina Indian Restaurant in Amsterdam, where my passion for food and cooking takes center stage”. He continued writing, “Over the years, you’ve seen my love for food and witnessed my culinary adventures, and now, I am on a mission to bring the most authentic and genuine flavors from different parts of India straight to Europe’s heart”.

As soon as Raina shared the news on social media, many celebrities and his friends were fast to recognize it. Virat Kohli promised to visit the restaurant with a comment, “Well done, bro, Suresh Raina. Congratulations, and next time we are in Amsterdam, we will definitely come over.” While former cricketer Harbhajan Singh commented, “Congratulations, brother. I am coming to eat there.” Actor and standup comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi wrote, “Main aa raha hu khane next tour pe pakka se sir…congratulations.” Other celebrities and well-known people like Rishabh Pant, Dwayne Bravo, Bobby Deol, Saina Nehwal, and Deepak Chahar also complimented him and wished him all the best of luck.

Suresh Raina shared how Raina Indian Restaurant is a celebration of authentic Indian flavors right from the rich spices of North India to the aromatic curries of South India. He also mentioned that his venture is a tribute to the dynamic and vibrant cuisine of different communities of his beloved nation India. On the restaurant’s website, the menu shows that it will be serving seafood, vegetarian, and meat dishes. The ‘Chicken curry dishes’ area of the menu, for instance, contains classics like butter chicken and chicken korma, while the ‘Vegetarian side dishes’ unit has paneer butter masala, dal makhani, and jeera aloo, among different dishes. A special unit called Snacks (Chandni Chowk) has a variety of dishes like Dahi Bhalla, Pani Puri, Chaat Papri, Aloo Chaat, and Samosas.

With regards to the price, the most affordable dish on the menu is Raita and it is priced at 1.49 euros (Rs 132), whereas the most expensive dish is Tandoori Lobster in the food section and comes at a price of 24.5 euros (Rs 2,183).

Raina’s new restaurant’s kitchen is led by Sunil Kumar, Omkar Singh, and Dinesh Singh who are experienced chefs. For example, Sunil is known for his expertise in north Indian curries while Omkar will be leading desserts and Dinesh is a master of the tandoor.

Raina is not the first cricketer to have tried his luck in the hospitality business. In the past, famous cricketers like Virat Kohli and Zaheer Khan have also ventured into restaurant businesses. For example, Virat owns a restaurant chain by the name of One8 Commune while Zaheer is the owner of Dine Fine restaurant in Pune. 

For the uninformed, Suresh Raina regularly visits Amsterdam. His wife Priyanka earlier had worked in a bank in Amsterdam and he recently celebrated his birthday a while back as well.
