The email has been sent to the email ID of Mukesh Ambani’s company by an unknown person. The email asks the billionaire to pay Rs 20 crore or else he would be shot dead.
Based on the complaint registered by Mukesh Ambani’s security in-charge, Gamdevi police in Mumbai has filed a case against the unknown individual under sections 387 (putting a person in fear of death or of grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police are looking into the matter in detail.
For the unaware, this is not the first time that Mukesh Ambani has received death threats. In the past also, there was a man from Bihar’s Darbhanga who was arrested in 2022 for making death threat calls to Mukesh Ambani and his family members. The accused was an unemployed man named Rakesh Kumar Mishra. He had even threatened Mukesh Ambani’s family that he would blast the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.
In 2021, a Scorpio car with 20 explosive gelatin sticks and a threat letter was discovered outside Mukesh Ambani’s south Mumbai residence Antilia. The letter read, “Yeh sirf trailer hai” which means, This is only a trailer.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash Ambani recently attended the India Mobile Congress (IMC), which is a leading telecom, media, and technology forum in India. IMC 2023 was the 7th edition of the largest formed, jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI).
One can note how Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio recently introduced Reliance Jio AirFiber to tackle the problems of providing access of internet to the remote areas. Indeed Jio has revolutionized the way people in India are accessing the internet. In the last few years, Mukesh Ambani who is the richest man of India has introduced many products to ensure that fast speeds of the internet are made accessible all over the country.
It looks like taking inspiration from Elon Musk’s Starlink, Reliance Jio AirFiber will also be introducing satellite broadband service. Named as the JioSpaceFiber, it will be India’s first satellite-based giga-fiber service that will provide high-speed broadband services to formerly inaccessible areas within the country. At the recently held India Mobile Congress that saw the attendance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ambani son of Mukesh Ambani and chairman of his company showed the upcoming satellite-based internet service.
