New Delhi: Two people have been detained by Delhi Police on charges of spreading rumors about violence. However, the police have not yet given much information about these two. At the same time, the situation has been normal in north-east Delhi for many hours. The police denied any incident and appealed to the people for peace.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that it closed the entry and exit gates of seven metro stations but did not give any reason. The stations were later opened.
DCP (West) Deepak Purohit said, “A rumor has been reported about tension in Khayala-Raghubir Nagar area of Western district. There is no truth in this at all. Everyone is appealed to maintain peace as the situation is completely normal and peaceful. “Some rumors related to communal tension have been spread in Tilak Nagar and Khayala area,” he said.
It is reported that there is no tension anywhere in Tilak Nagar and Khayala and the entire Western District area. There is no need to worry. “Police said that a baseless report of tension has been circulated in the southeastern and western districts on social media.” Delhi Police is keeping a close watch on the rumor spreading account and is taking action.
Also said that rumors of tension in Dwarka and Badarpur areas are also “baseless”. In West Delhi, shopkeepers in many areas including Subhash Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Janakpuri and Khayala closed shops and people hurriedly returned to their homes.
