Delhi Police issue Republic Day rehearsal parade traffic advise

New Delhi residents should be aware that the Delhi Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of today’s (January 10) Republic Day parade rehearsal. In anticipation of today’s Republic Day parade rehearsal on January 10, the Delhi Police have issued a traffic advisory outlining the routes that all Delhi residents should avoid in New Delhi.

On Wednesday, drivers in New Delhi, particularly in the city center, may encounter traffic delays, according to a warning from the Delhi Police. According to the notification, traffic restrictions would be in effect throughout Delhi from 7 am to 11:30 am on January 10.

President Emmanuel Macron of France will be the featured guest at this year’s 75th Republic Day Parade in Delhi on January 26. A French leader would be invited to this yearly gathering for the sixth time.

The Delhi Police released a statement stating “Due to Republic Day Parade rehearsal, kindly avoid Vijay Chowk, Rafi Marg-Kartavyapath crossing, Janpath- Kartavyapath crossing, and Man Singh Road- Kartavyapath crossing from 0700 Hrs to 1130 Hrs on 10-01-2024” .

A senior officer in the Indian Air Force has confirmed that this year’s Republic Day Parade contingent would include notable female Agniveer Vayu fighters. Furthermore, this year’s Republic Day Parade will include not one but two female-only contingents of the Defense forces.

During the 75th Republic Day in 2024, there will be five separate activities. “Viksit Bharat” (India as the Mother of Democracy) is the theme of Republic Day in the year 2024. Notable guests expected to attend the festivities include President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others. 

This year’s parade will include two all-female contingents, one consisting of sixty women from the Indian Army and the other of one hundred forty-four from the Indian Air Force and Indian Naval force. 

The Republic Day celebrations this year will be presided over by President Emmanuel Macron of France. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt was the featured guest in 2023. Reports indicate that the Kartyava Path has been the site of marching band practices, and that 80% of the band’s members are from the northeastern states. Police Superintendent Shweta K. Sugathan is one of 194 female head constables and force constables who will be marching in the procession.

Ring Road was jammed from Moti Bagh to Safdarjung because the Rajnagar flyover hydraulic crane broke down. An extra traffic alert states that a bus derailed on Vikas Marg, the route that connects Nirman Vihar and ITO. Firni Road between Nangloi Stand and Delhi Gate Stand was blocked due to a bus that broke down near Govt. Hospital in Najafgarh.

According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the change of guard ceremony would not be held from January 13th to the 27th due to the Republic Day parade and the preparations for the Beating Retreat event. Moreover, the Republic Day Parade contingent of the Indian Air Force would include female Agniveer Vayu personnel.
