Lucknow: Uncle of former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, Shivpal Singh Yadav, said on Wednesday that he was freed and his outfit Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party would prepare for the general elections in 2024. He, however, did not say anything about which party he would join hands with. After the presidential election, Samajwadi Party issued a letter, saying that he was free to go anywhere he likes to.

He contested the assembly polls in UP earlier this year on the ticket of the Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav. Both the leaders, however parted ways after differences cropped up between them. At a function in Indravat village in Sarai area of the state, he said that Akhilesh had freed him, so he would prepare for general elections in 2024. Shivpal Yadav floated his outfit in 2018 after a rift with Akhilesh Yadav. They, however, came together before the assembly election this year. He was elected as Samajwadi Party candidate.
