New Delhi: Keeping or selling Chinese Manja for flying kites has been completely banned in Faridabad, the police said on Wednesday. If someone is caught selling or keeping Chinese Manja will have to pay a fine of Rs 1, 00, 000 and face one year’s jail. As the Chinese Manja is causing injuries to people, police commissioner of Faridabad Vikas Kumar Arora has directed the cops to take strict action against those who are selling it.

Public relations officer of Faridabad police Sube Singh said that the National Green Tribunal and the Haryana government passed an order in 2017, imposing complete restrictions on Chinese Manja in Faridabad district. According to environmentalists, as the threads of Chinese Manja are made of synthetic material, it cannot be destroyed, besides they pose danger to humans, animals and birds.
