England clinch series 1-0 against Pakistan after match ends in draw

Southampton: England on Tuesday (August 25, 2020) clinched the three-match Test series against Pakistan 1-0 after the third and final match between the two sides ended in a draw following a rain-hit fifth day at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton.

Pakistan resumed their innings on the final day with 100-2 on the scoreboard and ended the day at 187-4, with Babar Azam staying unbeaten at the crease with 63 runs.

During the match, England pacer James Anderson picked up his 600th Test wicket and became the first fast bowler to achieve the feat.

The Joe Root-led side won the first Test against Pakistan by three wickets in Manchester to take an early lead in the series before the second match between the two sides also ended in a draw in Southampton last week.

This is England’s second international series win after the game was resumed post-COVID-19 halt. Earlier in July, they had beaten West Indies 2-1 in the three-match series.
