Tech Desk – WhatsApp recently spotted testing the “Kept” messages feature that allows users to save disappearing messages. It is in the development phase and has not been rolled out to beta testers.
WhatsApp Disappearing Messages lets users send messages that only remain on the chat for a specific time. And with the help of the new kept message feature, users can save disappearing messages.
The new feature was first spotted by Wabetainfo who stated that kept messages are just another form of disappearing message. The message will not be automatically deleted from the chat. Also, users can “un-keep” the messages if they do not wish to save them.
The bookmark icon represents a kept message and it will be found in the message bubble of disappearing messages. It indicates that the disappearing message has been “kept” and will not disappear from the chat.
Additionally, the user can also distinguish kept messages from regular disappearing messages within the chat. But note, all participants in the conversation can delete these messages at any time.
It is unknown when the feature will be released to users.
