Bhopal: A 32-year-old man disposed of his 67-year-old mother suspecting that she was a witch and trying to stop his wedding, the police said on Wednesday. The police said Anbdul Ahmed Farhan hit his mother Asma Farukh with a cricket bat and an iron pipe in Koh-e-Fiza area of Bhopal late Tuesday night.
Farhan thought that his mother was not keen on getting him married. That often kicked up fights between the two. On Tuesday night, when his elder brother and sister-in-law were not present at home, an altercation broke out between them and Farhan hit his mother who died.
His mother told Farhan to look for a job before getting married, the police said, adding that when his brother and sister-in-law returned home, he told them that his mother had fallen from the roof.
On getting information, the police rushed to the spot and quizzed Farhan who gave contradictory statements. He, however, confessed to have killed his mother.
Farhan told the police that he used to watch videos of demons and witches on the internet and began to believe that his mother was one of those and trying to stall his wedding, official sources said.
