Tech Desk – WhatsApp bring a lock feature to provide security for its Android and iOS users, now users can unlock the app using their fingerprint or Touch ID, or Face ID.
According to the report by WABetaInfo, Whatsapp is working on a new feature that will help users to protect the WhatsApp desktop app by setting up a password. It will provide an additional layer of security to the app in case the PC or the laptop is left unattended. This new feature is under development.
The messaging platform will also allow its users to change or reset their screen password. To reset the password, the user had to log out of the WhatsApp desktop app and log in again.
Additionally, WhatsApp is rolling out Companion mode to some Android beta testers, this was released with WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.24.18. It will allow users to link their existing WhatsApp account to another Android smartphone and tablet. Besides that, one can connect up to four devices at once.
How to use WhatsApp Companion mode
To use it, go to WhatsApp settings and tap on ‘Linked Devices’, now use the QR code to connect secondary devices to your WhatsApp account.
For desktop, the app will sync the chat and other data on the linked secondary device too.
Notably, the Companion mode is currently in beta, and other features like live location and manage broadcast lists will be unavailable.
