Kanpur: The body of a class 12 student, who went missing since Monday, was found near his school in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, the police said on Wednesday. According to assistant divisional commissioner of police Brijesh Srivastava, the body of the 18-year-old boy identified as Ronil Sarkar did not bear any injury marks.

The police were waiting for the post-mortem report and that they would begin a probe after getting it, Srivastava said, adding that the police wanted to know how the boy could reach an isolated place, nearly 500 meters away from the school.

The police have converted the missing person report into a murder FIR. The official said that the boy had gone to school on Monday morning, but when he did not return home, his family members began to search for him and also met the teacher who gave him tuition. As the family members of Roni could not find him, they lodged a missing person’s report.

Some residents of the area informed the police that he had seen the body of a boy in school uniform near a railway track. As the boy was in school uniform, they contacted the school authorities for identification. After that, school authorities and family members identified the body as that of Ronil Sarkar.
