Lucknow: A 35-year-old Nepalese woman has been arrested in Jarwa area of Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh with cocaine worth Rs 7 crore, the police said on Monday. The woman identified as Dil Kumari had to deliver the consignments in Delhi and Maharashtra, superintendent of police Rajesh Saxena said, adding that an international drug mafia was perhaps using her a “drug mule,” a term used for drug couriers.
To delve into the case, the police sought the help of the Narcotics Bureau (NCB) after the arrest of the woman, SP further said, adding that when sub-inspector Ram Kumar was patrolling near Piyera Pahadi area of the district lying on the Indo-Nepal border, he came to know about the woman carrying cocaine.
Immediately after that, a team of women cops was sent to the spot. The teamfrisked 25 women who were to cross into the Indian side. When Dil Kumar’s term came, she looked edgy and just as the women cops began to quiz her, she could not withstand it and confessed to her involvement in drug trafficking.
Besides 40 cocaine-contained capsules, the police confiscated one and a half kilograms of cocaine worth rupees seven crore from her possession. Dil Kumari is a resident of Dang district in Nepal.
