Things the grown-up me has learned from my dad

LifestyleThings the grown-up me has learned from my dad

Date:

Today is Father’s Day. 3rd Sunday of June month in every year is observed as Father’s Day all over India. I am glad to have got the opportunity to pen down my thoughts about my late father through this post. I was in my early teens when my father had diagnosed with severe health issues. I was struggling to study for my board exams when he was lying on the bed near my chair and sharing his bodily pain. I couldn’t understand the “why” behind his health issues back then because I hardly communicated with him about how I felt or thought in my life due to the huge age gap of 40 years between us. But I had heard many stories about his younger self and how he used to help people in no time whenever he got to know someone needs any sort of assistance.

As I am now in my 30s, I realize the importance of a fatherly figure in my life. It is not that I don’t want my father back who has become an angel now and is keeping a watch on every move. But I have really understood the importance of death in a human’s life. The grown-up me has learned a lot of life lessons in the past nine years since my dad is not with me and my family. And here I would like to share those valuable gems for you to take note.

More cases of back pain with Omicron after recovery: Experts

1) Take one day at a time:

My dad used to complain to me when he was ill that life is too much for him to tolerate and handle. Anxious that I will lose him, I used to pray to God to cure him soon. However, God had other plans when he got hospitalized once every six months for almost five years and then one day came when he was no more. That separation pain cannot be explained in words but can only be felt. Probably someone who lost their loved one can understand even when we say how hurt I am when I lost my dad. But from that day till date, I have understood that life is a mess if you make it. And you cannot plan minutely each thing about the future just like a God. So, just take one day and one step at a time, think and work on it well, and leave the rest to Nature to unfold to you on its way.

2) Be bold to face your life challenges:

Whenever we get afraid or upset about things not working as per our wish or plan, we waste a lot of time and energy on unwanted things. Instead, be brave, bold, and fearless to face life as it comes. As the problems come, they also go away soon. My dad used to tell me how he came from a village at the age of 16 in a city like Mumbai and built his empire (a small family with a home) with sheer determination and hard work. I can take his life story as an inspiration to do things with no fear.
