Kanpur: In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the father of a 13-year-old girl had filed a case against the alleged gangrape with her and after two days, the father died in a road accident outside a hospital on Wednesday morning. The victim was taken to the hospital for medical checkup. In this case, three people from his own village have been named.
The father of two accused in the case – Deepu Yadav and Saurabh Yadav, is a sub-inspector in the UP police and posted in Kannauj district, about 100 km from Kanpur. A third accused in the case, Golu Yadav, has been arrested. However, the victim’s family has made several serious allegations against the police. The family says that the family of the accused had been threatening them since the case was filed.
The victim’s grandfather alleged in front of reporters this morning that ‘my son has been murdered, the police have liaisons with these people’. On Tuesday, other members of the victim’s family also told reporters that they were receiving threats. One member told, ‘As soon as we filed the case, the elder brother of the accused started threatening us. Was saying that be careful, my father is a sub-inspector.
On receiving the matter, Kanpur DM Alok Tiwari has issued a video and said that both the cases are being investigated. He said, ‘The entire administration is with the victim’s family. On behalf of the Chief Minister, a compensation of five lakh has been announced to the victim’s family from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund. Both cases are being thoroughly investigated. Strict action will be taken against the accused in the case.
Kanpur police chief Dr Preetinder Singh released a video statement saying, ‘While the medical checkup was going on, the girl’s father came out to drink tea. We have come to know that he died in a truck accident. He was immediately rushed to the Kanpur hospital, but died. We filed an accident case and are investigating.
The Kanpur police had on Tuesday filed a case on the complaint of the father under charges of gang rape and criminal coercion. A senior Kanpur Police officer, Brijesh Srivastava, said that ‘Father had filed a rape case and we immediately took action. The victim is fine We have formed five teams to investigate.
After being questioned over the incident, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Twitter has directed the Kanpur police handle to conduct a speedy investigation in both the cases and said that the driver involved in the accident should be seized and the driver arrested soon.
